Team 44 - Muck 'n' Malarkey

Meet the Team

Don Malarkey & 'Skip' Muck

Why Muck 'n' Malarkey

The team name was generated from the names of two characters from 'the Band of Brothers' Easy Company - Sgt Warren H.' Skip' Muck and TSgt Don Malarkey.  Beyond that it seemed like an apt pairing for a pair of wannabe adventurers and their precocious vehicle.  So, throughout the rally, 'Muck' and 'Marlarkey' are likely to remain non-character specific - dependent instead upon the incidents of the day.

Main driver/Team Leader - Sarah Munson

Sarah was bitten by the 4x4 travel bug back in the 1980's when she and a group of friends drove two battered Series 3 Land Rovers overland to Kenya.  Some years later she took her 110 ‘B’lue’ to celebrate the millennium in the middle of the Libyan desert.

Co-driver/Navigator - Simon Atkins

Simon, until recently a SNCO in the TA and a former Combat Medic, is no stranger to mud, maps and Land Rover ambulances!  He saw active service in Iraq in 2003 and knows, first hand, the pressures and strains which our servicemen and their families face - whether injured or not.

Mascot/Meteorologist - Humph Al Jamal

Humph is a Kuwaiti dromedary and long time mascot for the Team.  In 2004 he emigrated from Iraq to lead the team (to obscurity) in the Macmillan Challenge and to overall 3rd place in the 2010 H4H 4x4 European Rally.  He is looking forward to revisiting the challenges of the 2012 Rally.  Humph serves as a barometer of external weather conditions for the Team and a decoy for traffic cops and small children.

The star of the outfit - B'ambi

B'ambi (younger sibling of Sarah's other 4x4, B'lue) is an ex RAF 127 Ambulance of non-specific gender and questionable parentage.  B'ambi carried Team Hump to the 'Spirit of the Event' prize in the Macmillan 2004 Challenge and is currently undergoing a career change to expedition vehicle.  He proved himself a feisty all-terrain beastie in the 2010 Rally and took part in the Convoy for Heroes in 2011.  He is looking forward to being tested again in the 2012 rally.
