Sat 16th June - Day 1 - 'Prelude to Invasion'   - 235km (146 miles)

Aldbourne, Wiltshire - Salisbury Plain - Portsmouth - ferry to Ouistreham (Caen).

 


Sun 17th June - Day 2 - 'Fortress Europe' - 67km (42 miles)

Pegasus Bridge - Arromanches and other D-Day sites of Normandy.

 


Mon 18th June - Day 3 - 'Moving Inland' - 305km (190 miles)

St-Marie du Pont - Utah Beach - St. Mere Eglise - Carenton - the Bocage - return to Arromanches.

 


Tue 19th June - Day 4 - 'The Great War' - 498km (310 miles)

To Ypres, via the Somme and the Western Front - Menin Gate for The Last Post.

 


Wed 20th June - Day 5 - 'Remember September' – 391km (243 miles)

 Ypres  -  Eindhoven  -  “Hell’s Highway” (British XXX Corps route) toward Arnhem. 

 


Thu 21st June - Day 6 – 'Operation Market Garden' – 215km (134 miles)

Airborne Museum, Oosterbeek  -  4x4 scenario, Eindhoven  -  Arnhem

 


 

Fri 22nd June - Day 7 - 'The Battle of the Bulge' – 391km (243 miles)

 Onwards to Belgium  Bastogne 

 

Sat 23rd June – Day 8 - 'The Bois Jacques and Beyond' – 240km (149 miles)

Bastogne - Battle of the Bulge Museum -  Francorchamps Spa Museum - Bois Jacques, Halt Station and Easy Company’s foxholes overlooking the village of Foy

A poignant visit for the team because Sgt Warren 'Skip' Muck was KIA at Bois Jacques on 10 Jan 1945.

In 2010 we took a planned detour into Luxembourg to visit Sgt Muck's grave and pay our respects.



Sun 24th June - Day 9 - 'The Last Patrol' – 423km (263 miles)

   Bastogne  -  Alsace  -  Haguenau  -  Schwarzwald (Black Forest).

 

Mon 25th June - Day 10 - 'R & R' - No set mileage

An opportunity to refuel, replen, repair and recharge, ready for the final 'push'.

Tue 26th June - Day 11 – 'The Atrocity of War' – 452km (281 miles)

 Dachau, Landsberg  -  Bavaria (Alpenstrasse)  -   Berchtesgaden.


Wed 27th June - Day 12 - 'The Eagle’s Nest' – 15km (9 miles)

Adolf Hitler’s 'Eagle's Nest' retreat and Nazi "chosen Homeland" at  Berchtesgaden.  Endex.

Evening – Meal, prize-giving and farewells

 

Thu 28th June - Day 13 – 'Goodbyee'  - 1458km (900 miles)

  Teams decamp and withdraw to their home bases. 

   Berchtesgaden  -  Koblenz  -  Dunkirk  -  Leicester
